The developers of Skyrim have answered a fan made interview that revealed a lot of new information about the game. Here are the main points:
- Character customization will include choosing between genders, a heavy or light build, facial hairs, scars, face paints and more.
- The upper body armor will be attached to the lower body armor, giving the Nordic results that the developer is looking for , also it helps the rendering times, and allows to put a lot more NPCs on screen at the same time.
- The main quest is much more linear compared to Fallout 3. However the side quests are a lot less linear than the main quest.
- The items are not level scaled, the drops depend on the “encounter zone”. The more difficult the encounter, the better the loot. Quest rewards will however be appropriate for your level. Also very powerful special artifacts still exist in the game.
- The game will not see a return of spears and medium armor from Morrowind, its a design choice.
- You can have NPCs as friends who can aid you in dungeons, get married, buy a house, move in etc.
- Players on the PC can edit the UI and also upscale the textures and effects.
- A mod kit will be released with the game that will allow PC players to make various changes to the UI.
- Enchanting is still in the game and is now a skill. You can upgrade it for better perks and it requires soul gems to be recharged.
- Each race has a starting attribute that is higher than the others but can be over come by others in a short time. Same goes for spells but each has its own special ability that can’t be learned by the other races.
- Each race has a bias towards certain NPCs in the game and each race has better starting stats for a class.
- Animations are different for male and female genders.
- The game will play differently if you do more evil deeds compared to good ones.
- Your character wont talk much.
- You will be able to carry on playing after you are done with the main story.
